Getting Your Restaurant Ready For Reopening

After the government’s announcement that hospitality businesses could be opening up on the 4th July, many restaurants, cafés, hotels and other catering businesses are going into high gear, putting all the necessary preparations for reopening in place. Although social distancing measures may be at the top of your priority list, there are other pre-opening precautions that could be easily missed with stressful consequences once customers start flooding in. Catering equipment that’s been lying dormant for a long period of time can reveal issues when it’s required to jump back to action; there’s no point in having a spot on social-distancing compliant operation if there’s no food to serve the customers!

Prepping your catering equipment for opening day is a substantial task and before you do anything, you will need to be attired with the necessary PPE including protective glasses, masks, gloves and safety shoes. All light equipment, such as kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery, will need to be dismantled and given an intensive cleaning. Every item of cooking and food preparation equipment, including ovens, slicers, mixers, grills etc., will need to be meticulously sanitised before undergoing a ‘dry run’ to check they have not developed any issues during the lockdown period.

In order to ensure you have no surprises with your equipment on opening day, it is advised that you solicit experienced catering equipment engineers to give your kitchen a full health check so you can get back to work with the utmost confidence. A thorough check by a professional will not only ensure your equipment is fighting fit and ready to cater to your sorely missed customers, it will also maximise the longevity of the machine and help ensure it is safe for your staff to operate.

The LLK catering equipment engineers have a combined experience of over a hundred years servicing, maintaining and mending catering kit. They are CEDA certified, Gas Safe qualified and trained up to their eyeballs on a variety of items, from light equipment to commercial ovens and everything in between.

If you would like to book in for a thorough, social distancing compliant catering equipment health check with our engineers, call us on 0161 633 5797 or email service@linda-lewis.co.uk and we’ll get you booked in before opening day!
